Sinopsis:
Hayate es un chico de 16 años que tiene la peor suerte del mundo. Por culpa de sus padres, que además de estar en paro se gastaban el poco dinero que tenían en el juego, Hayate no tuvo más remedio que comenzar a trabajar desde muy pequeño.
Sin embargo, trabajar tantísimo desde tan joven le ha otorgado unas habilidades físicas y una experiencia que ningún chico de su edad tiene, incluyendo una resistencia inhumana. Por si fuera poco, los inútiles de sus padres se endeudaron tantísimo que para librarse de las deudas no tuvieron otra genial idea que vender a su propio hijo por el valor de sus órganos a la mafia de los Yakuza.
Hayate, desesperado, decide secuestrar a una muchacha para usarla como rehén y así librarse de su fatídico destino, pero la cosa acaba saliendo totalmente al revés y salva a Nagi, una chica de 13 años bastante hiperactiva, de sus verdaderos captores, lo que ella se toma como toda una declaración de amor incondicional.
Nagi le ofrece a Hayate un puesto como su mayordomo personal hasta que salde completamente la deuda de su familia, aunque claro, sus intereses van más allá de lo puramente profesional.
Pese al interés de Nagi en Hayate, él se siente mucho más atraído por Maria, una criada jovencita también al servicio de Nagi. Si a eso le sumas a su desgraciada vida, que el jefe de personal de Nagi, Klaus, no acepta la presencia de Hayate en el servicio porque tiene una pinta de pobre que tira para atrás, ya os podéis imaginar lo que le espera; lo mismo que a Tama, la mascota de Nagi, que también está con ella porque no le queda otro remedio.
