Trama:
La serie se desarrolla en el mundo ficticio donde la Alchemia (la habilidad de transmutar materia y convertila en objetos) es la ciencia y la forma de vida. La serie sigue a los hermanos Elric, Edward y Alphonse en su peligrosa busqueda de la Philosofer's Stone. Ellos buscan la piedra con el fin de restaurar sus cuerpos dañados debido a su fallido intento de revivir su madre muerta, lo cual le costo a Edward su pierna izquierda y su brazo derecho y a su hermano Alphonso todo su cuerpo dejando su alma pegada a una armadura de hierro.
