Según una leyenda antigua, la carne de sirena puede conceder inmortalidad si es comida. Hace 500 años, Yuta comió un pedazo de esa carne. Por siglos, él viajó a través de Japón, esperando encontrar una sirena, pensando en que asi podría convertirse a un ser humano normal otra vez. Cuando finalmente encuentra una, él descubre que ella y sus compañeras han estado criando a una muchacha para ser su alimento, así ellas pueden comérsela y adquirir su joven apariencia.
Así es cómo los sirenas permanecen jóvenes. Yuta mata a las sirenas y la rescata, pero ella ha comido ya algo de la carne de sirena. Aunque él tuvo que matar a las sirenas, Yuta no está decepcionado. La soledad de Yuta ha acabado, ya que él ha encontrado a una compañera en Mana. Y Mana, que había sido atrapada en una choza pequeña su vida entera, encuentra placer en las cosas más simples. Juntos, Yuta y Mana procuran buscar más sirenas, intentando convertirse en seres humanos normales otra vez.
