Sinopsis:

La serie se centra en un final imaginario del siglo XIX en Europa. Donde la Orden Oscura lucha con el fin de detener al Conde o Duque del Milenio, quien tiene la intención de destruir la humanidad con su ejército de akumas, armas creadas a partir de las almas de los muertos cuando un familiar o ser querido llora por su perdida, considerándolo un castigo de parte de Dios. Para ayudar la Orden Oscura recurre al uso de la sustancia divina conocida como la Inocencia dividida en 109 piezas, la cual se esparció a lo largo del mundo gracias al Diluvio Universal. Derivando el nacimiento de los Exorcistas, personas capaces de emplear la inocencia y destruir a los akumas. Un trozo de la inocencia es conocido como el "Corazón de la Inocencia" el cual puede asegurar su victoria en la batalla. Sin embargo el Conde también está en busca de la inocencia y el corazón para destruirlas.
