Sinopsis
Claymore transcurre en un mundo ficticio cohabitado por el hombre y por una especie conocida como Yoma (妖魔). Según el saber popular, los Yoma son depredadores naturales de los seres humanos. Una capacidad innata de los Yoma es la de cobrar forma humana, lo que les permite vivir a escondidas de su presa. Creadas por una organización secreta a partir de humanos corrientes, los únicos seres capaces de identificar a estas criaturas y eliminarlas - por una gran suma de dinero destinada a dicha organización - son las guerreras conocidas entre los humanos como Claymores. Dicho nombre se debe a la gran espada que portan, conocida como claymore. Aunque su apariencia es muy similar a la humana, poseen algunas particularidades. El rasgo físico más sobresaliente son sus ojos plateados, que les ha valido también la denominación de "brujas de ojos plateados". Sin embargo, la razón fundamental por la que pueden combatir a los Yoma es la capacidad de percibir su presencia espiritual (妖気), independientemente de la forma que aparentan frente al ojo humano corriente.
